So, it happened…again. I fell off the face of blog-world.
The last few weeks involved a lot of work, schedule changes, and life changes. By the end of the day, all I could think of were food and sleep. And as hard as I tried to string words together for a new blog post, I either ended up staring at the blank page or I fell asleep from exhaustion. It just took me some time to quit my part-time job and some kettle chips to try and adapt to a new routine (…which, I actually have yet to figure out still). My days are full of trial and error and nothing seems to want to settle down.
But, what I learnt the last 6-weeks is that being tired, emotional, and eating shit will make you look exactly how you are feeling. So, I continued to eat all the cookies in the world while complaining about my breakouts. The combo was just not working out…until I discovered to slather and drown myself in strawberries. Just like spring, it felt like a rebirthing ritual or something – it works!!! …(and I celebrated with another dozen of cookies)…
The tasty bright red fruit that you munch a whole box of so often is actually full of alpha-hydroxy acids. A natural fruit acid that is gentle enough (and smart enough) to be put all over your face without any side-effects; unlike those chemical acid peels that you find at your dermatologist office or even in your drugstore shelves, which can do more harm than good. This natural acid in strawberries should be your best friend – they only eat up the dead skin cells and excess oil that are sitting on top of your skin. The result? Brighter complexion, lighten blemishes and scars, clears out clogged pores, and gives your face a fresh feeling!
So, what can you do?
Just take 1-2 strawberries and mash it up with a fork. Just like that, it can be applied all over your face.
Depending on personal preference, you can also blend it with different ingredients to adopt your skin type. For example, yogurt for dry/sensitive skin or honey for acne-prone skin.
My favourite concoction is blending a scoop of Detoxifying + Clarifying Clay Mask from Province Apothecary with the mashed up strawberries. This mask is made with simple and all natural ingredients that contributes to cell renewal and detoxification. The perfect combination!
This mask is an extremely simple mask to make to recharge my skin for better weeks to come!
love and light,
